About Industrias López Soriano
Metal recovery and recycling
Industrias López Soriano (ILSSA) was incorporated in 1974, building on a family business that dates to the 1950s. It collects, recovers, and sorts ferrous and nonferrous scrap for sale to steelmakers and other processors. The company marked its 50th anniversary in 2024.
Its work also includes dismantling industrial facilities; recovering scrap and metals from automotive, appliance, and electronics industries; and importing scrap and metals from other countries.
Key services
- Scrap processing: balers, shears, hydraulic presses, and excavators fitted with grapples and magnets for ferrous and nonferrous materials.
- Shredding: a facility at the Recycling Technology Park (PTR), together with two large shears, processes a wide range of scrap with high separation rates.
- Valorfrio: the company’s brand for processing cold-generating household appliances, including refrigerators, freezers, chest freezers, and water heaters. The process uses two-stage gas extraction and recovers refrigerant, compressor oil, ferrous and nonferrous metals, plastic, and pelletized polyurethane.
- Authorized vehicle treatment center: with integrated environmental authorization, the center collects end-of-life vehicles, processes permanent deregistration with Spain’s traffic authority (DGT), and removes hazardous materials. Parts may be sold secondhand or sent for scrap.
- Used-battery management: as an authorized hazardous-waste manager, the company transports and handles used batteries, placing its own containers at customer facilities and collecting them with its own equipment.
- Demolition and dismantling: projects include dismantling Ebro sugar factories, Zaragoza’s former U.S. base, more than 100 ships at the Port of Vilanova i la Geltrú, thermal power plants, factories, and concrete plants.
