About Kanimambo
About Kanimambo
Kanimambo is an organization focused on emotional education. It develops programs, workshops, training and research for children, teens, families, adults, educators, organizations, schools and associations. The organization says its purpose is to teach preventive emotional skills, not to treat illnesses or replace psychological care when that is needed.
The name means “thank you” in Changana, a language spoken in Mozambique. The organization says the project grew out of a trip to Mozambique and a question about why so much time is spent teaching academic subjects and so little on understanding emotions.
Programs and method
Kanimambo uses its own method, the Kanimambo Method, which combines emotional education, self-regulation, mindful communication, personal reflection and experiential learning. Programs bring theory, practice and hands-on activities together and are adapted to participants’ ages and needs. Topics include self-esteem, empathy, communication, emotional regulation, conflict resolution, teamwork and self-care.
