About the Santa María Cathedral Foundation

The Santa María Cathedral Foundation is responsible for the comprehensive restoration of Vitoria-Gasteiz’s Santa María Cathedral, a building more than 800 years old that preserves traces of the original settlement of Gasteiz. Alongside architectural restoration, the foundation runs cultural, educational, and visitor activities to highlight the monument’s significance.

Activities and Services

  • Guided tours of the cathedral, tower, and city wall
  • Virtual visits and walks, with videos made using laser scanning
  • Cultural program: the Abierto por Concierto (Open for Concerts) series, film screenings in the portico, and activities for children (La Catedral Para Los Niños, or The Cathedral for Children)
  • The regular publication Noticias desde el triforio (News from the Triforium), a monthly bulletin about restoration and cultural activities
  • A media library with videos on YouTube and photo galleries on Flickr

Recognition

The project has received distinctions from UNESCO, Europa Nostra, and the European Archaeological Association, according to the foundation’s website.
