Industrial cooperative and product lines

Embega is an industrial cooperative founded in 1971 and based in Villatuerta, Navarre. It is part of Mondragon Group and operates three business lines supported by in-house engineering and design: decorative metal components such as handles and pulls, printed sealing gaskets, and functional and printed electronics.

History

The cooperative began in 1972 when a group of AGNI workers—then a maker of stoves, ranges, and appliances—contacted Caja Laboral. It started with 43 members machining, screen-printing, and lithographing metal plates for appliances, automation, and decorative elements. In 1979, it launched an aluminum-profile anodizing and galvanizing plant with 120 employees. During the 1980s, it diversified into screen-printed sealing gaskets and membrane keypads for sectors such as vending and machine tools. In early 2013, it launched flexible, backlit, capacitive buttons and keypads as part of its HMI division.

Recognition and certifications

In 2013, Embega received the “Golden Q” award from the Bosch&Siemens Group as supplier of the year for product quality. A Tier 1 customer has also rated its screen-printing business unit as an “A supplier.”

Markets and approach

Embega serves automotive, major-appliance, and healthcare markets. The company says its strengths include engineering-based solutions, knowledge of customers’ value chains, customized aesthetics, and tailoring products to each customer’s brand and needs. Orders increased by more than 20% during the pandemic compared with the prepandemic period.
