Person-centered senior care in Ourense

Fundación Valdegodos provides geriatric care through a network of senior residences in Ourense province, Galicia. Its headquarters are in Vilamartín de Valdeorras. The foundation describes its care model as person-centered and comprehensive, respecting residents’ independence and privacy and allowing flexible visiting, arrival, and departure times.

Seven residences

The foundation lists seven locations across Ourense:

• Residencia Virgen de los Milagros, the foundation’s first center.
• Residencia Os Pinos.
• Residencia Natividad de María, in the municipality of Vilamartín de Valdeorras.
• Mosteiro de Ramirás, in the Ramirás valley near a Romanesque monastery.
• Residencia de Maiores de Viana do Bolo, in the center of the medieval town.
• Residencia de Maiores de Quiroga.
• Residencia de Bande.

Care and activities

Along with lodging and daily care, the residences offer help with activities of daily living, music therapy, movie screenings and discussion, exercise and mobility programs, karaoke, technology workshops, and activities that support residents’ family and personal relationships.

Professional care team

The foundation’s specialized staff includes center directors and coordinators, supervisors, physicians, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, recreation and social educators, dietitians and nutritionists, administrators, receptionists, kitchen staff, housekeeping and laundry, maintenance, nursing assistants, and geriatric care workers.

Quality and community support

Published materials include an activity report, an equality plan, and ERF certification. The foundation also has a reporting channel and has received grants for social-purpose organizations in Galicia, including a subsidy for installing a biomass heating system.
