About Fundació Puig-Porret

A foundation rooted in Vic's textile history

Fundació Puig-Porret is a private Catalan foundation governed by a board of trustees. Its purpose is to support and protect former employees of the textile company known as el Tint, while contributing to social assistance, charitable work, and cultural promotion.

Founded in 1930

The foundation was created in 1930 at the direction of industrialist Antoni Puig i Darnís, who died in 1929. Its original endowment included urban properties in Vic and two rural properties. Income from those assets was intended to help workers at his el Tint factory and support charitable work, social assistance, and cultural activities. His widow, Enriqueta Porret, became the foundation's first president. The organization has been active for more than 90 years.

How the foundation directs its resources

Its income comes primarily from managing real estate on Carrer Verdaguer in Vic, including rental and property administration. The foundation provides one-time grants to organizations for social and cultural projects rather than ongoing support. Cultural promotion has taken on a larger role over the years. Its stated allocation of income is:

  • 40%: charitable work, including support for former employees
  • 35%: social assistance through grants to organizations
  • 25%: cultural programs and organizations

Property and contact

The foundation manages properties on Carrer Verdaguer in Vic, along with additional rural property; these assets are its main source of income.
