Who Diana Najurieta is

Diana Najurieta is a licensed educational psychologist, registration IB610-20, and early-childhood educator with more than 25 years of experience. Her work centers on care-based and freedom-based education, supporting families in their parenting process and training education professionals. Her specialist areas are early childhood development and education in emergencies.

Professional education

Najurieta offers in-person and online workshops for educators, in-home childcare providers, therapists and other professionals. Subjects include early childhood and children experiencing vulnerability or trauma. Her programs include the Twelve Gestures of Care and Self-Care and education-in-emergencies workshops. She also advises respectful-education initiatives and leads family activities through the COPPIB program.

Education in emergencies

This field has been central to her work since 2018. As part of humanitarian response, education in emergencies seeks safe, dignified access to learning for children during crises. Najurieta volunteers with Pedagogía de Emergencia Internacional, UNICEF in the Balearic Islands and the Red Cross childhood and family program, and joined the INEE international network in 2022. Published experience includes work connected with Beirut in 2025–2026, Tigray in Ethiopia in 2024, Gaziantep in Turkey in 2024, the 2021 La Palma volcanic eruption and the 2020 pandemic.

Publication

She coauthored Sobre los 12 gestos de cuidado en el primer septenio with Ignacia González Rena, Aranzazu Plaza and Silvina Fridman over four years. Inspired by the work of Rolf and Inge Heine, the book considers twelve gestures supporting physical, emotional and spiritual development in early childhood. Editorial Rudolf Steiner published it in Spain in 2025, following a 2024 Argentine edition from Editorial Antroposófica.
