Valladolid Science Museum
Valladolid’s Science Museum combines interactive exhibits, a planetarium, and Casa del Río, where aquariums and terrariums introduce the ecosystems and wildlife of the Pisuerga River.
About Valladolid Science Museum
Science that invites visitors to take part
The Valladolid Science Museum turns a former industrial site into a place for hands-on exploration. Built on the remains of the El Palero flour mill, the museum uses interactive exhibits to make subjects such as the senses, mathematics, astronomy, and the natural world accessible to visitors of different ages. A permanent mathematics gallery, developed with advice from regional educators, gives the subject its own dedicated space rather than treating it as a passing exhibit.
The planetarium adds a separate way to look outward, with programs that range from live views of the sky to shows for younger audiences. Across the footbridge, Casa del Río shifts the focus to the ecosystem closest at hand: the Pisuerga. Its aquariums, terrariums, and interpretive displays introduce animals and habitats associated with the river and its banks. Current exhibits also include a large-scale riverside-forest diorama and live views into some of the animal enclosures, although individual displays can be temporarily unavailable.
A city museum with a river at its heart
The setting helps tie the visit together. The former mill recalls Valladolid’s industrial past, while Casa del Río makes the city’s river landscape part of the science lesson. Families can combine the main galleries with a planetarium program; visitors with a particular interest can spend longer with mathematics, astronomy, or river life. The museum’s changing exhibitions and schedule give repeat visitors new reasons to return, so it is worth checking the current program when planning a visit.
