Campamentos Prado Angelo

A youth camp shaped by decades of experience

Campamentos Prado Angelo is a youth camp in Valgañón, La Rioja. It is run by former members of the Spanish Youth Organization (O.J.E.) who now belong to the Association of Parents of O.J.E. Members and Friends of O.J.E. in La Rioja. The team’s experience organizing camps dates back to 1960.

History and experience

The team has decades of experience in youth camping. In the 1960s, its members served as leaders at the provincial camp in Laga, Biscay, and attended national training courses for camp leaders and specialists. In the 1970s, they continued working at Laga and Orio, in Biscay and Gipuzkoa, as well as in the National Campaign. During the 1980s, they managed the setup, administration, and camp sessions at Ortigosa de Cameros in La Rioja, including a national Almogávares camp. They continued in that role until 1996.

Facilities

In 1996, the group acquired and developed the site known as Prado Angelo. Since then, improvements have been made each year across more than 50,000 square meters. The facilities include running water and drainage, solar-powered electricity, indoor and outdoor lighting, restrooms, a kitchen, storage, a first-aid room, and continuous supervision.
