A long-standing social mission in Valencia

Sant Joan de Déu València is the Valencia social services organization of the Hospitaller Order of Saint John of God, a nonprofit religious organization with health and social care centers in more than 50 countries. The order has worked in Valencia for more than 130 years. Its first work in the city focused on health care for hospitalized children at Hospital de la Malvarrosa; since 1992, its Valencia programs have focused on people experiencing homelessness.

What it does

The organization’s social care programs have expanded in response to the needs of the people it serves, forming a comprehensive model focused on social inclusion. Its stated areas of work include:

• Social services: homelessness, unwanted loneliness, housing, health care, and social emergencies.
• Social research.
• Social innovation: new methods, ethics in social work, and art as a tool for inclusion through the FUTURO&CO project.
• Public awareness and mobilization through the EDUCA program and Magic Line.

The organization operates a Welcome Center with a greened terrace designed as a climate refuge, as well as social emergency centers offering immediate assistance and ongoing support.

Business partnerships

The organization builds partnerships with businesses and foundations through corporate social responsibility initiatives. Options include financial and in-kind donations, employment inclusion, corporate volunteering, Magic Line, solidarity initiatives, and cause-related products. It also offers support with employment and training.

Publications and transparency

Sant Joan de Déu València publishes social intervention and social services reports and maintains a dedicated transparency section.
