About Fundación Mainel

International cooperation, education, and culture

Fundación Mainel is a nonprofit organization based in Valencia and active since 1990. Its work is organized into three areas: international cooperation, education and public awareness, and culture. It has a headquarters in Valencia and a network of regional representatives in several Spanish provinces.

Areas of work

  • International cooperation: projects in countries including El Salvador, Nigeria, and Port Sudan, with initiatives supporting economic independence for rural women through agroecology, bus donations, and nursing and palliative-care programs.
  • Education and public awareness: organizes the Human Rights Conference, whose ninth edition focuses on disasters and resilience.
  • Culture: runs the Painting Award, the Cultura Visual program, La Hora Azul, and the Refugio Climático Cultural, which hosts the “Capaces de más” exhibition.

Publications and transparency

The foundation publishes an annual activity report, a news bulletin, and digital publications, and maintains an SDG and Social Justice Observatory. It makes public information available about transparency, annual accounts, bylaws, and investment policy.
