A coalition promoting more effective recycling of small aluminium and light-steel products through partnerships, sorting capacity and public awareness.
About COAALI — Coalition for Aluminium and Light Steel Recycling
What COAALI is
COAALI is a coalition created to improve the recycling of aluminium and light-steel products. It highlights that both materials can be recycled repeatedly and frames its work around a more circular economy and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Origins and pilot city
The coalition describes Valencia as a pioneer in the recycling of smaller aluminium and steel items. It says results from the project’s second year were collected in a document called the Libro Verde, or Green Paper.
Areas of work
The initiative describes three pillars:
- Partnerships: cooperation among public institutions, companies, NGOs and environmental bodies
- Effective recycling: expanding waste-sorting capacity and the collection and recycling of aluminium and steel products
- Awareness: encouraging the public to manage waste efficiently and responsibly
Organization
COAALI describes itself as a coalition of committed companies. The organization’s website does not identify the participating entities, membership total, independent results or direct contact details.
The Green Paper is the clearest route into COAALI’s results and its approach to recovering smaller aluminium and light-steel items in Valencia.
