About Bodegas Mauro
Wine shaped by the Duero Valley
Mariano García founded Bodegas Mauro in 1980 in memory of his father. Based in Tudela de Duero, Valladolid province, the winery makes wines intended for aging from the grape varieties and terroirs of the Duero Valley.
History and winery group
Bodegas Mauro was the García family's first winery in the Duero Valley. The family established San Román Bodegas y Viñedos in the Toro designation of origin in 1997 and added Garmón Continental in Ribera del Duero in 2014. The three wineries share an approach centered on the distinct character of each area.
Vineyards and winemaking
Bodegas Mauro has 90 hectares of vineyards, averaging 35 years in age and yielding between 3,000 and 5,000 kilograms of grapes per hectare. The bush-trained vines grow in light, well-draining clay-limestone soils. Harvest begins in the Tudela de Duero vineyards in mid-September, with each plot picked as its grapes ripen. The grapes are hand-harvested and carried to the winery in 13-kilogram crates, then cooled to support clean aromatic extraction.
Wines and production
The winery produces 300,000–350,000 bottles a year. About 60% goes to the Spanish market, with the remainder exported to more than 60 countries. Its wines include Mauro, Mauro VS, Terreus, and Mauro Godello.
