About Enplater S.A.

Flexible-packaging printing

Founded in 1962, Enplater S.A. designs, prints, laminates, and slits flexible packaging. Food accounts for 95% of its market, and the company operates throughout Europe and North Africa. Enplater describes itself as a pioneer in digital printing in Southern Europe and offers flexible packaging in different quantities, including customized products.

Facilities and locations

The group has two plants: Enplater in Torroella, Girona, and Envases Plásticos de Aragón (EPA) in Sariñena, Huesca. Founded in 2008, EPA uses technology for printing flexible packaging. It was established to meet rising packaging demand in Europe and provide backup production to help maintain customer supply.

Production capacity and investment

EPA expanded its annual production capacity from 9,000 to 18,000 cylinders and moved to second and third shifts in less than a year. The expansion created more than 32 direct jobs. Investments in 2015 and 2016–2017 included expanding the cylinder-engraving line, acquiring printing presses, laminators, and slitters, and enlarging production facilities with new offices and a warehouse.

Projects and certifications

Enplater is a founding member of the Packaging Cluster and took part in ECOIND, a circular-economy project focused on reusing production waste. The company is a member of SEDEX (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange), a nonprofit organization working to improve ethical practices in supply chains. The European Union also co-funded the HU/217/E50 project to expand the Sariñena plant under Spain’s 2014–2020 Multiregional Operational Program.
