Scouting and guiding projects in Tarragona
Fundació Alverna is a nonprofit based in Tarragona that supports scouting and guiding. Its activities are focused mainly, though not exclusively, in the city of Tarragona.
Projects and activities
- La Travessa d'Andròmines: Launched in 2009, this event takes place every August 15 during the Sant Magí festival. It is a race of homemade floating craft at Tarragona's Miracle Beach. Participants carry water from Sant Magí to the first buoy and then return to shore. The event has its own website: www.androminestarragona.com.
- Finding and managing youth-group camps: The foundation has created a committee to encourage the opening of these facilities in Camp de Tarragona, where a shortage had been identified for scout and guide groups seeking places for outings.
- Talks and workshops: The foundation organizes a day of talks and workshops for the general public to highlight the value of scouting and guiding.
- TICS magazine: First published in 2008, the magazine was launched by Associació d'Antics i Amics de l'AEiG Alverna to share Alverna's educational work with families, former members, and institutions and to cover topics of interest to members.
- Awards for group projects: For the 2020–21 school year, the foundation introduced awards to recognize, encourage, and strengthen the educational quality of projects created by scout and guide groups and their branches.
