About Associació de Voluntaris de Súria
Community support in Súria
Associació de Voluntaris de Súria is a volunteer organization based in the Catalan town of Súria. It provides social support to individuals and families in need, working with the town's social services.
Programs
- Aliments Súria: collects and distributes food to people in need in the town. The town's social worker sets eligibility criteria based on factors such as household income, family size, and whether anyone in the household is ill. Food comes primarily from Fundació Banc dels Aliments, individual donors, the European Union, and organizations, institutions, and businesses in Súria and the surrounding area. Individual donations are collected on the first Thursday of each month at the former primary care center, from 10 a.m. to noon and 5–7 p.m.
- Support for Social Services: volunteers offer some of their time to people with physical or psychological needs who require occasional assistance.
- Infantsúria: gives local children facing difficult family circumstances and risk of social poverty access to after-school activities throughout the school year. Activities include tutoring, computer classes, arts and visual-arts workshops, games, sports, and events with local organizations and associations, such as Caramelles, al Juliol tot ho vol, and la carrossa del Reis. In 2014, the association piloted an early-learning classroom for young children needing support, with information programs, a speech therapist, and a psychologist. In 2015, it introduced Aula Primerenca in a new space next to the adult school.
Community donations
