About Budo Shorei
What Budo Shorei is
Budo Shorei is a traditional Okinawan martial-arts school founded in 1984 by Manuel Vicente Tena and Fernando Jarandilla. Its history says the founders introduced Okinawan Kenpo Karate and the Shorei-Kai kobudo system to Spain in 1987 through teacher Toshio Tamano.
Disciplines
- Kenpo Karate: material connecting Chinese Kenpo in Okinawa with traditional Goju-Ryu karate.
- Kobudo: Okinawan weapons practice following the Shorei-Kai system.
- Chinese medicine: traditional practices presented for physical and mental wellbeing; these should not be treated as a substitute for evidence-based medical diagnosis or treatment.
Publications and activity
The school publishes historical and technical articles on Naha-te, Goju-Ryu principles, Daruma Taiso, kobudo teachers and weapons, Zen and kata. It also reports events including the 2016 International Kobukai Convention in Sunbilla, Navarra, organised with the European Kenpo-Kai Organization.
