Gráficas Eujoa S.A.

Printing and Publishing Work

Gráficas Eujoa S.A. is an Asturias-based commercial printer that has been operating since the 1970s. Its main work is producing catalogs and books in many formats, from large print runs for publishers to self-publishing projects for individual authors. The company describes itself as a leader in Asturias’s printing industry and serves customers throughout Spain.

History

Founded by Joaquín Galán and Eugenio Prieto, Gráficas Eujoa began as a printing business in the 1970s. In 2010, it invested in a modern Swiss-made binding line, and in 2017 it added LED-UV printing technology.

Services and Technical Capabilities

• Prepress: Two twin computer-to-plate (CTP) lines with automatic loading and unloading can image up to 65 plates per hour. Digital prepress follows ISO 12647, with visual press proofs that customers can review and approve from their own computers. Systems are available for processing, page imposition, storage, and file archiving.
• Offset printing: Three offset presses with 8, 6, and 2 colors in a 70 × 100 cm format. One has LED-UV equipment and a coating tower for applying acrylic or UV varnish inline. The presses can print four-color process and spot colors simultaneously on paper from 60 to 400 gsm, with automatic color-measurement systems.
• Digital printing: A Ricoh C7100 digital press for CMYK production of books and other printed materials, and an Océ 4110 digital press for black-and-white production.
• Bookbinding: Two binding lines, including a Swiss-made line capable of producing up to 5,000 books per hour. It can add flaps inline and uses PUR adhesive, widely used in Europe for paperback books and catalogs.
• LED-UV technology: Added in 2017, LED-UV inks and varnishes dry instantly and provide high gloss, strong contrast, and scuff resistance. The company has a press equipped with LED-UV lamps and an anilox coating tower.

Environmental Commitment

The company says it is committed to sustainability and uses 60,000 kWh of clean energy per year.
