Claps Security is a software company that sells CLAPS, a cloud-based tool designed to remove permanent administrator privileges from an organization's computers. The system lets employees receive temporary administrator rights and gathers information about the overall security status of devices.

How it works and key features

• Administrators can grant temporary permissions through an administration portal, while employees can request a temporary password through a self-service portal.
• Each generated password is unique to a device and expires according to the organization's policy.
• Organizations can optionally designate approvers who authorize employees to receive temporary passwords.
• Audit logs are included by default: administrator actions and password requests are recorded to support privileged-identity-management compliance.
• Passwords change automatically based on the configured strength and expiration policy.
• The tool is entirely cloud-hosted on Microsoft Azure and does not require on-premises infrastructure.
• Both the administration and self-service portals are protected by two-factor authentication (2FA).
• A lightweight agent must be installed on each internet-connected device running Windows 7 or later. It can be deployed by script, Group Policy, or management systems such as Intune or Configuration Manager.

Plans and pricing

The pay-as-you-go model has no minimum term or hidden fees and charges a monthly rate per device. Published prices are:

• 1–99 devices: €1.99 per device per month
• 100–499 devices: €1.80 per device per month
• 500–999 devices: €1.60 per device per month
• For larger deployments, the company invites customers to request a custom proposal.

A 30-day free trial is available and includes remote setup support.

Security and compliance

Data is hosted on Azure. The company says the service complies with standards and regulations including GDPR, Spain's National Security Framework (ENS), ISO 27001, and NIST 800-171.
