About Aceite de Secastilla

An olive mill in the Ribagorza hills

Aceite de Secastilla is an olive mill in Secastilla, Huesca province, that has made olive oil using only mechanical methods since 1950. The company describes itself as the highest-altitude olive mill in the province, at 615 meters above sea level in southwestern La Ribagorza.

Olives and production

The mill presses olives on the same day they are picked, which it identifies as a key to quality. Its oil is made from seven locally grown varieties—Arbequina, Blanca, Picual, Verdeña, Hojiblanca, Negral, and Empeltre—cultivated by small growers in the area. The region's dry climate supports olive growing, and century-old olive groves are scattered across the landscape.

Available sizes

The oil is sold in four bottle sizes:

  • 500 milliliters
  • 1 liter
  • 2 liters
  • 5 liters
