A historic estate in Spain’s Duero wine country

Abadía Retuerta LeDomaine is a wine and hospitality destination in a 12th-century monastery in Sardón de Duero, in Valladolid province. The estate brings together a five-star hotel, a winery with its own Protected Designation of Origin, and a spa, pairing a historic setting with high-end wine tourism.

Rooms among the vineyards

The hotel has received three Michelin Keys and offers 27 double rooms and three suites in the monastery’s former guesthouse, with views of the vineyards. The estate covers 700 hectares, including 193 hectares of vines.

Winery and tastings

The winery has more than 30 years of history, set within a wine-growing tradition documented over more than eight centuries. Its own Protected Designation of Origin, granted by the European Commission, covers single-estate wines intended to express the character of the land. The estate offers winery visits and tastings, as well as current releases, historic vintages, the Winemaker’s Collection, gift sets, and products from the property.

Dining across the estate

Refectorio serves regional cooking and holds one Michelin Star, a Michelin Green Star, and two Repsol Suns. Vinoteca is a contemporary Castilian tavern focused on market-driven cooking and produce from the garden. Calicata Terroir Bar is a wine bar inside the winery that opens seasonally in summer. Visitors who are not hotel guests can reserve lunch or dinner; breakfast and some other services are reserved for hotel guests.

Wellness and spa

Santuario Wellness & Spa has been recognized as Europe’s Best Historic Luxury Spa. Its offerings include treatments, wellness rituals, the Spa Sommelier experience blending wellness and wine culture, and a private Spa Suite for couples.

Wine, art, and private events

Experiences for hotel guests and outside visitors explore wine, sustainability, wellness, food, and art, with personalized itineraries available. The estate also hosts corporate events, meetings, incentive trips, and private celebrations.

Sustainability and art

The company holds B Corp and Green Globe certifications and publishes an ESG sustainability report. Its arts collaborations include a special edition created with Eduardo Chillida.

Getting to the estate

The property is in Sardón de Duero, in the heart of the Duero Valley. It is less than a two-hour drive from Madrid and about an hour by high-speed train between Madrid and Valladolid. The estate has its own helipad and can arrange private transfers from Madrid, Bilbao, or Barcelona.
