Canary Islands foundation for comics and film
Fundación Canaria Cine+Cómics is a cultural organization based in the Canary Islands focused on comics, illustration, and film. Its work combines events and competitions with publishing and support for research and public education about comics.
Festivals and events
The foundation regularly organizes the Santa Cruz International Comic Book Fair, which held its 22nd edition in 2025. Its programs also include the Juventud Canaria Regional Comics and Illustration Competition, Día del Cómic, the ABJ gatherings, and the International Cine+Cómics Congress, which held its eighth edition in 2025. Other events include La Laguna es Cómic, Granadilla Cómic, Ilustradoras & Ilustradas, Los Realejos Cómic, and Arona Cómic.
Books and publishing projects
Its catalog includes the series Los Archivos de la Fundación, Gran Viñeta, Colección DELTA, and Pierrot, as well as film books and volumes of comic strips and caricatures. Recent publishing projects include its work on A voz en cuello, a graphic biography of La Gomera poet Pedro García Cabrera, and the 2023 graphic novel Juan Negrín.
Accessibility and inclusion
The foundation launched Cómic sin Barreras (Comics Without Barriers), a program aimed at addressing discrimination against people with disabilities in comics, illustration, and other visual arts.
Public outreach
The foundation produces the Cine+Cómics podcast, broadcast on Radio Canaria, and shares news and interviews with people working in the field.
