A cooperative serving local farmers

Agropecuària Coperal i Secció de Crèdit, S.C.C.L. is an agricultural and livestock cooperative based in Santa Coloma de Queralt, Tarragona. A group of local farmers and poultry producers founded it in 1959 to market their egg production together. In 1965, the cooperative opened its credit division and its first feed factory, two milestones that fueled its growth.

Growth and expansion

In the 1970s, the cooperative began selling fertilizers and grain and expanded its storage facilities. In 1986, it adopted its current name after updating its bylaws to comply with Catalonia’s cooperative law. It built the Sarral warehouse in 1997 and absorbed the El Pla de Santa Maria Agricultural Cooperative in 2003. Its fuel station opened in 2000, a new feed production line in 2004, and a grain sorting and seed certification facility in 2008.
