About Semillas Batlle S.A.
Seeds and Gardening Since 1802
Semillas Batlle S.A. is a Spanish company that produces and sells seeds and has been active since 1802. It operates in two main areas: large-scale crops for professional farmers, and home gardens and gardening for individual customers. Its headquarters are in Molins de Rei, Barcelona, where it coordinates group production and logistics.
Business Areas
- Large-scale crops: Research, development of new varieties, plant conservation, production, selection, and sale of seeds for field crops such as cereals, pasture grasses, alfalfa, corn, vetch, and sunflowers. In addition to the domestic market, the company exports to several European countries, northern Africa, and Central and South America.
- Home Garden: Seeds and related products, growing media, fertilizers, and crop-protection products for home gardeners. The range includes Batlle Bio organic seeds for vegetables, legumes, herbs, sprouts, medicinal plants, and superfoods; urban gardening; lawns; flower bulbs; and the Batlle Eskudo crop-protection line.
- Batlle Pro: A division for the professional horticulture market, built around flavor, vigor, and productivity.
Facilities
The group has its own seed quality-control laboratory, led by an agricultural engineer and staffed by a technical team. In addition to headquarters in Molins de Rei, it operates:
- Bell.lloc: A facility of about 14,000 square meters with automated vacuum packaging lines for bags and boxes. It fulfills orders for the Iberian Peninsula and islands.
- Talavera la Nueva: A growing-media factory with storage and distribution facilities supporting the Bell.lloc site, with more than 9,000 square meters of built space. Its production area serves the Tagus region and Extremadura.
Community and Outreach
The company is active in the press, on Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn, at trade shows, and in outdoor advertising. It also develops point-of-sale materials such as displays, signs, and planting calendars. Its Proyecto Verde Solidario is a social initiative aimed at improving life for children and families.
