Ana Le Flêr

Knitting and crochet classes

Ana Le Flêr is a school and shop for knitting and crochet, led by Ana Le Flêr. In-person classes welcome all skill levels, from people who have never picked up knitting needles to experienced knitters looking to refine their techniques. The school also has an online shop for yarn and knitting kits.

Classes and teaching approach

The main option is a monthly pass covering four two-hour classes for €50. Knitting and crochet are taught as one combined course, so students can switch between the two without an additional fee. Available class times are 10 a.m. to noon or 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 5 to 7 p.m. or 6 to 8 p.m. There are no Monday morning or Friday afternoon classes.

The curriculum covers basic stitches such as garter stitch and stockinette, as well as more advanced techniques such as brioche stitch, ribbing, lace stitches for summer sweaters, and textured stitches. Students also learn how to start and finish projects, work edges, armholes, and sleeves, and personalize garments.

Classroom and location

Classes take place at the Le Flêr shop at Avenida de Baunatal 19 in San Sebastián de los Reyes, also known locally as Sanse. The space accommodates group sessions and the sale of supplies.

Activities and community

The school holds an annual show featuring work knitted by students; its most recent edition had a record number of models and attendees. Its blog includes step-by-step tutorials for projects such as a striped sweater, a Liberty-print scarf, a buttoned cape, and a vest. It also discusses knitting and crochet as activities that may help with stress, anxiety, or loneliness.
