Fundación O Noso Lar

Community support in Samos

Fundación O Noso Lar is based in San Román de Lousada, in the municipality of Samos, Lugo. It provides community-wide support, with particular attention to older adults, through social and community services and activities.

History

The foundation traces its origins to 1988–1990, before its legal incorporation. A commemorative report covers its first 25 years, documenting activities from 1991 through 2016. For each year, it records the theme chosen for Festa dos Maiores, reflections on the theme, and activities illustrated with photographs. The report also includes a bibliography of articles published by the foundation.

Activities

Its initiatives include vacations and group trips for older adults. A gathering took place in Cantabria in 2024 and in the Basque Country from April 23–30, 2025; another gathering in Portugal is planned for 2026. The foundation also carries out pastoral activities and organizes services through local parishes.
