Supporting communities in La Moskitia

Fundació SiD Moskitia is an international development nonprofit based in Sabadell, near Barcelona. It works to improve living conditions for Indigenous communities in La Moskitia, Honduras, through education, health, and economic development projects, along with public awareness work in Spain.

Origins and history

The foundation was established in Sabadell in 1996 to continue and support the work begun in 1986 in La Moskitia by Josep Aguilà, a missionary from Sabadell, in collaboration with the Catholic Mission of the Vincentian Fathers. The organization says it encountered communities facing poverty and lacking sufficient national and international support for food, health care, and education. This led it to expand its work beyond parish-based assistance.

Organization

The foundation is governed by an honorary president, president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and coordinator. It says its work is sustained by supporters and volunteers.
