Convega - Consorcio para el Desarrollo Económico de la Vega Baja

Regional development in Vega Baja

Convega is the Consortium for the Economic Development of Vega Baja del Segura, a public entity working to advance the region’s economic and social development in Alicante province. Its headquarters are at Calle Malecón del Soto 12 in Rojales, and it holds ISO 9001 certification from ICDQ.

Employment services

One of Convega’s main areas is job placement, a free service for both employers and workers. It connects employers and job seekers across the region in two ways. In direct placement, an employer posts a position on the EmpleActiva portal for Convega’s technical team to review and approve. In assisted placement, Convega posts and promotes the opening, collects applications, and conducts an initial technical screening.

The process includes defining the position, promoting it, receiving applications, conducting a preliminary review of skills and experience, and sending suitable candidate profiles to the employer. The employer makes the final hiring decision. Businesses access the service by completing three forms covering the job opening, service requirements, and data protection, then emailing them to intermediacionlaboral@convega.com.

Convega also lists openings in fields including kitchen-furniture installation, psychology, agricultural engineering, factory cleaning, nursing, and furniture assembly. Its Orienta Plus program, developed with LABORA, provides career guidance and job-placement support to priority groups.

Training

Courses are offered through Convega’s training programs and centers. Examples include mobile elevating work-platform operator training in Pilar de la Horadada and Torrevieja; social-media marketing and online reputation management in Redován; introductory Excel in Benejúzar; and computerized purchasing management in Benijófar.

Business advice and entrepreneurship

Convega offers business advice to companies and entrepreneurs by appointment to support economic activity in the region.

Tourism and regional promotion

Its regional-promotion work includes management of a place brand, a tourism-development and governance plan, hiking trails, and cycling routes. The GR 92 Mediterranean Trail received the Valencian Community’s Trail of the Year award. Cycling routes cover more than 200 kilometers and cross 23 municipalities, highlighting the natural environment, market gardens, and the region’s water, historic, and cultural heritage.
