Observatorio de Actividad Física

An online observatory that helps families compare children's expected fitness levels by age and sex and provides recommendations for healthy habits.

About Observatorio de Actividad Física

About the observatory

The Observatorio de Actividad Física is an educational platform focused on physical fitness and healthy habits among school-age children. Its main tool lets families enter a child's age and sex to see expected fitness values for that age, presented as percentiles, along with recommendations for healthy habits.

How the assessment works

The system asks for the child's age, grouped into three-month intervals (for example, 3 to 3.24 years, 3.25 to 3.49 years, and so on), and sex. It then displays results as percentiles, a statistical measure comparing a child's values with those of a reference group of children of the same age and sex. For example, a 70th percentile means the child's values are higher than those of 70% of the reference group.

Where the data comes from

Information about school-age children's physical activity, nutrition, and behavioral self-regulation was collected through online questionnaires completed by families. Healthy fitness data was measured using the Prefit battery and other motor skills tests administered by calibrated assessors.
