Cero 2050
A Spain-based observatory examining regulation, emissions, technology and projects involved in decarbonising maritime transport toward 2050.
About Cero 2050
What Cero 2050 is
Cero 2050 is an observatory devoted to alternative fuels for maritime transport and the sector’s pathway toward net-zero emissions in 2050. Based in Spain, it brings together material on rules, emissions, technologies and projects connected with shipping’s energy transition.
Areas covered
The observatory addresses several parts of the maritime transition:
- European and international regulation, including International Maritime Organization measures and the EU monitoring, reporting and verification system
- Global and European Union shipping-emissions data
- Liquefied natural gas, methanol, ammonia and hydrogen
- Bunkering and conventional-fuel prices in Spain and internationally
- Alternative-fuel technology trials recorded for 2016–22
- Interactive resources including a live LNG-fleet map, an onshore-power-supply simulator and prices drawn from zerocarbonshipping.com
Context and evidence
The site describes maritime transport as responsible for roughly 3% of global carbon-dioxide emissions and 3%–4% of total EU emissions. It discusses the technical, economic and infrastructure barriers to lower-carbon fuels and existing efficiency measures, citing sources including the IMO and DNV. Figures, regulations and project lists are time-sensitive and should be checked against their primary sources before professional use.
Contact
Email: info@cero2050.es. The recorded phone is +34 913 72 96, which appears incomplete for a Spanish fixed-line number; verify it through the observatory’s current official site before calling.
