Food assistance in Cádiz province

Banco de Alimentos de Cádiz is a nonprofit charity founded in 2000 to improve conditions for people experiencing poverty and social exclusion. It collects donated food and distributes it to people in need across Cádiz province.

Programs and projects

• Programs to help people enter the workforce
• A food-use cooking project based on the Mediterranean diet and traditional cooking by older adults
• School and high school outreach on the role of food in health and growth
• European Fund for Aid to the Most Deprived (FEAD): Purchasing food and supplying storage and distribution centers
• FEGA fruit and vegetable program: EU-subsidized collection of fruits and vegetables for humanitarian aid, through Spain’s Agricultural Guarantee Fund
• Operation Kilo food drives and the Virtual Food Drive

Campaigns and results

The Spring Campaign 2026 raised €53,726.76, up 17.45% from the previous year. It also brought in nearly 3,000 kilograms of food for the warehouses, including donations from Carrefour (2,352 kg from its El Paseo, Jerez Norte, Bahía Sur, Arcos, and Jerez Sur stores) and Alcampo (550 kg from Sanlúcar and Jerez), along with corporate donations from Mercadona, El Corte Inglés/Hipercor, Carrefour, and Alcampo.

Recognition

• ISO 9001:2015 quality certification, issued June 3, 2026.
• Fundación Lealtad’s “Dona con Confianza” seal, received in August 2025.

Partners

The organization works with regular partners that donate food and money. Financial donations may qualify for tax incentives. The association is a member of the Andalusian Federation of Food Banks (FABACM).
