About the book
Jack el Destripador. El Mito Equivocado (Jack the Ripper: The Mistaken Myth) is a historical investigation by Juan Carlos Boíza, published by Oberon, part of Grupo Anaya. The book revisits the 1888 Whitechapel murders in London, drawing on original police files, witness statements, and documentary evidence from the period to propose a different identity for the killer from the one most commonly accepted.
Research approach
The author says his work departs from familiar theories and relies on the facts as they appear in primary sources, without interpreting them in advance, allowing the conclusion to emerge from the material itself. The book presents a narrative that challenges the popular mythology surrounding Jack the Ripper and focuses on the victims and the poverty and marginalization in which the murders took place.
