About Jack the Ripper: The Misguided Myth
About the book
Jack the Ripper: The Misguided Myth is a book about the 1888 Whitechapel murders in London, written by Juan Carlos Boíza and published by Oberón, part of Anaya Group. The official book and author website includes an overview, reading excerpts, images and contact information.
The investigation
The book draws on original police files, witness statements and physical evidence to reconstruct the case. Boíza argues that presenting the evidence without prior interpretations points to an identity different from the one in the familiar, mythologized account. The book also focuses on the victims and the poverty and desperation surrounding the murders; these are the author's interpretations of the case.
