About Supermercados Froiz

Galician grocery retailer

Supermercados Froiz is a food-retail chain operating under the legal name Distribuciones Froiz S.A. It focuses on fresh foods, groceries, wine, and household products, combining leading national brands with its own Froiz label. The family-owned company dates its origins to 1968. In 1970, it acquired a small supermarket on Calle Cobián Roffignac in Pontevedra; that store operated for 33 years before being renovated in 2003 as an urban hypermarket of more than 4,000 square meters.

Stores and geographic reach

The company reports more than 250 neighborhood stores. Its network comprises 249 supermarkets, seven hypermarkets, and 12 cash-and-carry locations, in addition to more than 80 franchised stores. It operates in Spain and Portugal. In Spain, it is present in Galicia, Castile and León, Castile-La Mancha, and the Community of Madrid. In Portugal, it serves the northern districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, and Aveiro, with 15 supermarkets and one cash-and-carry location. Froiz says it ranks among Spain’s 20 largest companies in the sector and is part of the Euromadi buying group.
