History and growth

Froiz traces its origins to 1968. In 1970, the company took over a small supermarket on Cobián Roffignac Street in Pontevedra. That original 300-square-meter store operated for 33 years before a full renovation in 2003 turned it into an urban hypermarket of more than 4,000 square meters. In 1990, the company built its headquarters in Lourido, Poio, on the site of a former quarry. Today, the site is its main logistics center, with warehouses for dry groceries, perishables, and nonfood products. Expansion continued with the company's entry into Portugal in 1996, Castile and León in 1999, and Castile-La Mancha in 2005. In 2006, Froiz launched online shopping at www.froiz.com, available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
