Curtidos Lajara, S.L. is a family-owned company based in Petrer, Alicante, that sells tanned and finished leather, primarily for footwear and leather goods. The company reports more than 70 years of industry experience and sells in Europe, the Americas, and Asia.

Products and capabilities

The company keeps finished and semi-finished leather in stock and can develop exclusive products. Its materials include crust leather, goat leather, mestizo leather, cowhide, split leather, brushed leather, suede, and specialty finishes.

Curtidos Lajara releases its own collections each season based on fashion trends, with color cards for spring–summer and fall–winter. It also participates in international trade shows such as Lineapelle in Milan.

Sustainability

The company says it works with premium chrome-free leather, using an alternative tanning process that removes chromium and reduces environmental risks.

History

The business began in the late 1940s, when Pedro Hernández Lajara founded a small finished-leather company in Elda. In 1991, Francisco Hernández founded Curtidos Lajara. The company is now run by the founder’s grandchildren.
