About Fundació Folch i Torres
Catalan literary history inside a medieval castle
The Fundació Folch i Torres occupies the upper floor of Castell de Plegamans, whose earliest section dates to the 11th century and whose Gothic rooms took shape in the 14th and 15th. The foundation’s permanent exhibition follows the lives and work of the Folch i Torres siblings, a family whose writing, journalism, and art helped shape Catalan culture in the first half of the 20th century. Books, magazines, manuscripts, portraits, and personal objects make the story tangible within the castle’s historic rooms.
Josep Maria Folch i Torres is a central presence: visitors see the world behind the children’s magazine En Patufet, his stories about everyday life, and adventure novels such as Les aventures d’en Massagran. Beyond the galleries, the foundation maintains a growing photographic and documentary archive and makes research materials available online. The visit is a compact way to connect a Catalan literary landmark with the castle that houses it.
