About EcoXarxa Garrotxa
A community exchange network in Garrotxa
EcoXarxa Garrotxa is a community exchange network for goods and services that uses its own social currency. It aims to encourage bartering and strengthen the local economy in Garrotxa, a region of Girona, Spain. The network is self-managed and open to individuals and groups.
Events and initiatives
The organization periodically holds exchange gatherings and fairs, including XIDI (Xarxa Itinerant d'Intercanvi, or Traveling Exchange Network), which visits different locations around the region. Participants can exchange goods, knowledge, and services, with an emphasis on open participation and self-organization. EcoXarxa has also supported transhumance—the seasonal movement of livestock—and the restoration of livestock routes, including accompanying a shepherd from Mieres on a 2022 route to Pla d'Anyella.
