About Fundación Soñar Despierto
Opportunities for children in care
Fundación Soñar Despierto is a nonprofit working with children and teenagers growing up in Spain's child-protection system. Its committed, responsible volunteers help young people access opportunities available to other children.
Programs
The foundation organizes its work in three main areas:
- Children: mentoring and activities for younger children.
- Teenagers: support for young people during adolescence.
- Young people leaving care: programs for those transitioning out of the child-protection system.
The foundation also runs summer camps and fundraising events throughout the year.
Volunteering
Volunteers are central to the foundation's work. Applicants must be at least 18, provide a certificate showing no sexual-offense record, complete an interview, and attend training led by the team. Opportunities include ongoing volunteering, one-time support at large events, family volunteering in Madrid, and host-family participation in Barcelona. Minors may take part only at large events and with permission from a parent or guardian.
Campaigns and projects
Fundraising campaigns support specific needs such as camps, dental treatment, and sports activities. Examples include the 2026 summer-camp campaign, dental treatment for Ismail, and support for Porshia to play basketball.
Ways to contribute
Businesses can sponsor projects, organize employee-volunteer activities, or launch charitable initiatives. Individuals can become members, make one-time or recurring donations, purchase charitable merchandise, or host a fundraising celebration.
