Its remit extends across regional, national and international settings. It seeks to represent and strengthen this regulated veterinary specialism before the justice system, public authorities and wider society.

Members cover several fields of forensic veterinary medicine, including:

  • Forensic veterinary expert evidence.
  • Food safety.
  • Animal abuse.
  • Agricultural insurance.

Functions and services

The association compiles and updates lists of member experts, which are submitted annually to the courts under Article 341 of Spain's Civil Procedure Act and to other bodies. It also monitors the quality of members' professional work, supports continuing education through talks, courses, study days, seminars and conferences, and facilitates the exchange of technical experience and information.
