About Adopta un K9
About Adopta un K9
Adopta un K9 is a non-profit association dedicated to finding a new home for retired police dogs. These animals, known as K9, have worked on rescue tasks, searching for people, drug detection, explosives and currency detection during their years of service. The association matches each dog with the right person, and not the other way around, in order for each animal to receive a secure retirement with a family.
Services
- Adoption of retired K9 dogs: the association manages the adoption process, which begins with a contact questionnaire to get to know the adoptive family and avoid misunderstandings.
- Training: It provides courses and seminars for the adopter and dog to understand each other; these courses are conducted by instructors and professional canine guides of the Spanish security services.
- Charity shop: one of the ways to collaborate with the association is to purchase from its charity shop.
- Donations: the association accepts donations to support its activity.
Scope and funding
The association has branches across Spain. According to the association, it has a single source of official support from the Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030 and does not receive private grants, so the solidarity shop and donations are important sources of support.
