Thai and Indonesian cooking, made for sharing in Nerja

SomSom brings two food traditions to Calle Cristo, a few minutes uphill from Nerja’s Balcón de Europa. Som, who grew up in Thailand and learned to cook in her family’s kitchen, leads the cooking; Derek brings years of experience in Indonesian and Thai kitchens. Together, they have built a menu around the flavors they know best, served in a modern, relaxed dining room.

Guests can start with green papaya salad, Thai fish cakes, or chicken satay, then move to pad Thai, green curry, Indonesian chicken, or beef rendang. The restaurant also offers a ten-dish rijsttafel for two, a format that turns dinner into a progression of small tastes. It is a distinctive change of pace from Nerja’s seafood-focused tables, with a menu that rewards ordering for the center of the table.
