About Concello de Negueira de Muñiz
What the council is
Concello de Negueira de Muñiz is the local authority for the municipality of the same name at the eastern edge of Lugo province, between A Fonsagrada and Asturias. The municipality covers 72.26 square kilometres and has 215 residents across six parishes: Barcela, Marentes, Ouviaño, Rio do Porto, San Pedro de Ernes and Negueira. It adopted its current name in 1928 in honour of José Antonio Muñiz Álvarez.
Public services
The official portal is a communication and service channel for residents. It links to municipal information, the public-procedure catalog and the electronic office, including the transparency portal. Notices include recruitment processes, register approvals and sessions for local projects.
Landscape and heritage
The council presents the area as a quiet nature destination suited to mountain sport throughout the year. Heritage includes the late-15th- or early-16th-century church of San Salvador, the rural church of Santiago de Ouviaño, several chapels and the 20th-century Boadil bridge. Thick stone walls, hipped slate roofs and hórreo granaries mark traditional construction, while ancestral grape varieties support a small local wine tradition.
