About La Bestia Dormida

La Bestia Dormida is a rock band with progressive influences and a focus on mid-tempo songs. Its name is represented by a logo of four symbols arranged horizontally, one for each band member; when referring to the members individually, the symbols are arranged vertically.

Releases

The band has released two recordings:

  • La Bestia Dormida: the band’s self-titled debut EP, described as an eruption of dark atmospheres, magma, and pyroclastic imagery underpinning progressive-leaning rock and mid-tempo songs. The listed price is €6, including VAT.
  • MicroCosmos: an invitation to travel through five distant stars in a universe of its own. The listed price is €8, including VAT.

MicroCosmos: concept and songs

The album draws on the image evoked by Stephen Hawking’s book The Universe in a Nutshell and the idea that infinity exists at both the macro and micro scales, and that an individual is part of a whole. The band emphasizes collaboration built from each member’s individual contribution.

The album includes five tracks:

  • Alma Guerrera: the opening track and first single, grounded in the cycles of preparing the soil, sowing, and harvesting. It considers relationships between people, particularly romantic relationships.
  • El Porvenir: a reflection on the future as a horizon that remains in sight but out of reach.
  • Reina Divina: the second single from MicroCosmos, addressing depression and the difficulty of living with it.
  • Soñámbulos: a song about dreaming through memories and the emotional core of lived experience.
  • Un árbol en la jungla: a meditation on spirituality as an inner flame of elusive knowledge, and on the stories, ideas, laws, and hierarchies people build around it.

The Tzolkin project

The band also offers the Tzolkin project, a 260-day calendar associated with the growing cycle of corn and the human gestation period. Granada artist MamenArt hand-draws the designs, which are based on the ancient Maya calendar. The Sacred Tzolkin is a matrix of 13 tones and 20 seals (Kin, Kincronopsi); each seal and tone carries information about a being’s power, action, and essence.

Online presence

The band says its online store is not yet running. It maintains a website and shares updates on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
