Background

The current firm formed when two partners, identified as JAR and JCA, joined forces in 2011 after separate careers in industrial property. JAR had led a firm since 1992 that became the largest in the Region of Murcia by case volume and one of Spain's five largest. JCA developed an independent operation starting in 2003. The partners have worked together since late 2011 and say they have kept their 2003 prices for comprehensive service.

Pricing approach

The firm explains that official fees are the same for all providers, so the difference between firms lies in the additional services and professional fees. Distintivo says it does not classify any item as a reimbursable expense and gives clients an invoice covering all expenses, including taxes. As an example, it lists a €355 fee to renew a national trademark, made up of a €293.39 taxable amount plus VAT. The firm says some competitors advertise €288.90 by treating the official fee as a reimbursable expense and lowering the invoiced taxable amount.
