About Subiñas Springs

Components for Mattresses and Upholstery

Industrias Subiñas, trading as Subiñas Springs, manufactures components for the bedding and furniture industries. Its catalog has two main lines: mattresses and upholstery. Mattress products include pocket-spring units, Bonnell spring units, and micro-springs. Upholstery products include seating mechanisms, zigzag springs, conical springs, micro-springs, cushion spring units, and upholstery accessories.

The company describes itself as a family-owned group with more than 60 years in business. It sells primarily to mattress manufacturers and upholstered-furniture makers rather than directly to consumers.

Plants and Capacity

The group lists five facilities:

  • Mungia, Biscay, Spain: main office and a 20,000-square-meter plant making pocket-spring units and ZZ and zigzag springs.
  • Martos, Jaén, Spain: a 5,000-square-meter plant for Bonnell springs, spring-unit encapsulation, assembly of reclining mechanisms, and storage.
  • Yecla, Murcia, Spain: an upholstery factory and main warehouse for mechanisms, motors, and accessories, covering 8,000 square meters.
  • Paços de Ferreira, Portugal: 1,500 square meters for storage, assembly, and distribution.
  • Windsor, Connecticut, United States: Subiñas USA, established in January 2012, manufactures Bonnell and pocket-spring units in a 6,000-square-meter facility.

Technical Position

The company argues that spring structures provide better breathability than polyurethane foam because they dissipate heat and moisture more effectively. It presents this as an advantage for quality, comfort, and hygiene compared with alternative materials.
