Parque Minero de Riotinto

A Huelva mining heritage destination joining a historic railway, museum, former mining homes, open-pit sites, and a look at mining today.

About Parque Minero de Riotinto

A mining landscape told in layers

At Riotinto, mining is both an inheritance and a living presence. The Parque Minero brings those two timelines together: the Mining Museum and Casa 21 introduce the region’s long industrial history, while the railway follows the Río Tinto through a landscape shaped by generations of extraction.

The wider visit reaches places that are hard to understand from a museum display alone. Corta Atalaya opens onto the scale of the mining works, and Peña de Hierro shows the region’s striking mineral colors near the river’s source. A separate Riotinto Experience takes visitors into the story of present-day mining. Taken together, the sites make this a half-day or full-day exploration of Huelva’s industrial heritage, geology, and working landscape.
