Representation in Europe

Mercosur en Europa is the organization that represents the MERCOSUR Chamber of Commerce, known as “THE CHAMBER,” in the European Economic Area. It operates from Barcelona through MERCOSUR EUROPA, an entity established for an indefinite term under Spanish law and authorized by a public deed executed in the city of Mataró. Its president is Prof. Lic. D. Mariano F. López.

The organization describes itself as a chamber of commerce working to support regional economic activity and bring members and ventures together around trade agreements.

Projects and programs

Its region-focused programs include:

• Recovering mining-production slag for use as a natural binder to stabilize soil. The product has CO2-0 certification and a patent, and has been tested and approved in the EU and Brazil, with feasibility studies in Argentina, Uruguay, and Peru.
• Alfalfa seeds as an alternative crop, with training and production on public plots and support for forming cooperatives.
• Support for producing vegetable oils (soybean, sunflower, corn, and olive) in Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil.
• Whole-soy innovation intended to reduce waste and make use of by-products such as soy pulp, skin, and hulls.
• Urea exchanges between raw-material producers and fertilizer manufacturers, promoted by the Barcelona Delegation.
