Fundació Francesc Pujols i Morgades

A foundation devoted to Francesc Pujols

Fundació Francesc Pujols i Morgades is a private nonprofit educational foundation whose purpose is to promote, share, and protect the cultural and philosophical work of Francesc Pujols i Morgades. It was established at the request of his son, Faust Pujols i Alcover, in a founding letter dated January 17, 1992.

Torre de les Hores

The foundation is based at Torre de les Hores, a Catalan manor house in Martorell built in 1888. The square-plan, two-story house has an attic, a lookout turret, and a garden. Francesc Pujols lived there during the last 40 years of his life and died there on February 13, 1962. The façade retains neoclassical sgraffito and Martorell’s coat of arms; the entrance gate bears a wrought-iron “Ladder of Life,” a symbol of Pujols’s philosophy.

The interior preserves the house’s character and some of the philosopher’s belongings. Its library holds extensive documentation and works by Pujols, along with watercolors, oil paintings, prints, and drawings by artist friends including Salvador Dalí, Feliu Elies, Aragay, and Ricard Canals. The archive includes books, manuscripts, unpublished works, and correspondence.

The foundation’s board

A 17-member board governs the foundation. Statutory members include Martorell mayor Xavier Fonollosa Comas as president; secretary Sergi Corral Barón; a representative of the Catalan culture minister, Andreu Felip Ventura; a representative of the Ateneu Barcelonès president, Jordi Jiménez Guirao; and a representative of Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí, Carles Ayats Aljarilla. The board also includes lifetime members, among them vice president Francesc de Castro Piera.

Visiting and inquiries
