Parc de la Séquia

A heritage route linking a 14th-century canal, lakeside park, water interpretation centers, and museums across the Bages region.

About Parc de la Séquia

A medieval canal still shaping the landscape

La Séquia began as a practical answer to drought: in the 14th century, Manresa set out to bring water from the Llobregat River to the city. The canal still follows that 26-kilometer route, crossing valleys and streams by way of aqueducts and underground channels. Its gentle grade and the old maintenance path beside it now make the waterway a distinctive way to read the countryside between Balsareny and Manresa.

The Parc de la Séquia links the canal to a wider group of cultural stops, including the Parc de l’Agulla, the Water Center at Can Font, and the Museu de la Tècnica de Manresa. Visitors can make the experience a walk or bike ride, then add an indoor visit that explains how water infrastructure shaped the region’s daily life. It is a rare heritage destination where the historic system remains part of the living landscape.
